POLESTAR RACING GROUP ANNOUNCES TWO-CAR LINEUP FOR 2007 ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP

CHARDON, Ohio (April 3, 2007) -- A returning series star and a seasoned professional racer highlight the 2007 driver lineup for Polestar Racing Group in the Cooper Tires Presents The Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda.

Entering its fifth year as team in Atlantic competition, the Polestar squad will rely on its experience and savvy this season against the tough international series field.

Helping to navigate the waters will be former Atlantic and Champ Car standout driver Ronnie Bremer, who returns to the Polestar stable. Bremer joined the team during the 2004 Atlantic season and led the Chardon, Ohio-based squad to its first win that season in Denver. The 28-year-old native of Copenhagen, Denmark finished fifth in the Atlantic Championship and second in the Rookie of the Year standings with Polestar in '04 before graduating to Champ Car. Bremer competed for both Dale Coyne Racing and the HVM team in the 2005 Champ Car World Series, scoring seven top-10 finishes in 12 races. After making one Atlantic start last season for Polestar, finishing 14th at Montreal, Bremer is back with the team this season looking to fight for race wins and poles, the coveted series title and the $2 million champion's Champ Car bonus.

"Atlantic will be such a strong series this year and I'm happy to be back racing in America again," said Bremer. "My goal is to get back into Champ Car and this is a good opportunity with Polestar to see what we can do this season and go from there."

Bremer will pilot the #12 entry for the squad this season with sponsorship from The RoomStore of Phoenix, Sealy and the Polestar team.

Joining Bremer behind the wheel of the Mazda-Cosworth/Swift/Cooper Atlantic cars for Polestar is veteran Bret MacDonald. The Dublin, California racer will be an Atlantic rookie in 2007 but he certainly has proven himself on the race track. MacDonald developed his skills in Skip Barber competition and has competed in the Formula TR 2000 Pro Series over the past several seasons. He has earned top-four finishes in the championship in each of the last three years, including 2006 when he claimed third overall with eight podiums going up against such drivers as current Atlantic rookie Carl Skerlong, who captured the Formula TR 2000 title. Driving the #21 Polestar machine this season for sponsors Brelia Enterprises, BCP Concrete, BAM Properties and the Rock House Sports Pub and Grill, MacDonald is anxious to make his Atlantic debut.

"I'm really excited about this year," said MacDonald. "I'm fortunate to be in with a great, professional team like Polestar and working with a driver that's as talented and experienced in these cars as Ronnie Bremer will just be a tremendous help to me. I know I'm going to learn a ton this season and hopefully be competitive along the way."

Both MacDonald and Bremer will be in action this weekend as the 2007 Champ Car Atlantic Championship gets underway with Round 1 of 12 this season at the Vegas Grand Prix on the streets of downtown Las Vegas, April 6-8.

"We're excited to have both Ronnie and Bret with us this season," said Jim Griffith, co-owner of Polestar Racing Group. "For Ronnie it's a great opportunity to once again prove himself against some of the great talent we have in Atlantics this season and he'll be a big help to the team and to Bret as a series rookie. Bret understands the challenges he'll face in such a tough series this year, but he's not at all intimidated. He's always fared well in whatever he's done and Bret's certainly looking forward to being competitive."

Owned by Jim and Pam Griffith and Bruce Potter, Polestar Racing Group is one of the most experienced teams in the Atlantic series. The Griffiths and Potter all share in the management and operation of the team. Jim Griffith is a respected engineer, who was responsible for engineering Atlantic championship-winning efforts for Patrick Carpentier (1996), Alex Barron (1997), and Buddy Rice (2000). Pam Griffith brings over 20 years of experience in motorsports and was also part of Rice's championship-winning entry in 2000. Potter is also a gifted engineer who brings several years of successful Atlantic racing knowledge and experience to the team. In addition to Bremer's win at Denver in '04, the team also scored three wins with current Champ Car driver Katherine Legge in 2005 and two victories and a pole with Antoine Bessette that same season as Legge and Bessette finished third and fourth respectively in the championship standings.

Sciuto Finishes 8th in Road America Atlantic Thriller
Bessette’s race ends early due to contact

Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin (September 24, 2006) – In a thrilling conclusion to the 2006 Champ Car Atlantic season in which both title contenders failed to finish, Polestar Racing Group’s Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S. Deans) came home eighth after running as high as fifth, to finish the season eighth overall and the fifth-highest rookie. Teammate Antoine Bessette (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix), in one-race return to the Polestar team this weekend, fell victim to contact with another driver on lap four of the 18-lap season finale.

“We were just too far down on speed on the straights,” said Sciuto, who began today’s race from 11th on the starting grid. “We trimmed the car out as much as we could, but we had a tough time keeping up. It was a fun race, with a lot of passing and close racing, but it would have been great to finish in the top five. The guys really did a super job all season and I want to thank the entire team for everything.”

“This wasn’t how we wanted our race to go today,” said Bessette, who was credited with the 21st finishing position. “I’m not sure who it was, but I was hit from behind coming into Turn 12. It pushed me off into the sand and ended our day. We made up a couple of spots at the start and probably would have finished near Alan. But, that’s just how it goes sometimes. It was great to be back with Polestar this weekend and appreciate all of the work the team did for me.”

Jonathan Bomarito captured his first career Champ Car Atlantic victory today, and was followed by Rafael Matos and Andreas Wirth. Although he failed to finish today, Simon Pagenaud clinched the 2006 championship crown after title contender Graham Rahal was sidelined by mechanical problems.

Bessette, 24, captured two victories, four podiums and one pole while driving the entire Atlantic season with Polestar last year. He finished outside of the top five in just three events, went on to finish fourth overall, placed third in the 2005 Atlantic Rookie-of-the-Year championship, and received the Gilles Villeneuve award by the Atlantic series.

Orange, California - native Sciuto, 18, was recognized as North America’s top shifter kart racer in 2004 prior to competing in three Atlantic races last year. He qualified seventh in his series debut in San Jose, then the following week in Denver led both rounds of qualifying to capture his first career Atlantic pole position and establish himself as the youngest-ever Atlantic pole winner at just 17 years of age.

Today’s race will be televised via SPEED on Sunday, October 8 at 5:00 PM ET.

Sciuto and Bessette 11th and 12th in Rain-Shortened Final Qualifying Round at Road America
Sciuto sets 3rd-fastest time in morning practice

Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin (September 23, 2006) – With no hope of improving starting positions due to increasing showers throughout today’s final round of Atlantic qualifying, Polestar Racing Group’s Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S. Deans) and Antoine Bessette (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) will grid 11th and 12th for tomorrow’s Gehl Champ Car Atlantic Championship Finale at Road America. While the 45-minute session began under relatively dry conditions, the majority of the 23-car field elected to sit out the final 25 minutes as the rain began to fall and the qualifying times began to rise.

“We’re pretty disappointed that qualifying didn’t go our way today,” said Sciuto, who set the third-fastest time in this morning’s 55-minute practice session under dry track conditions. “We found a set-up this morning that was great on a dry track and were looking forward to having a good qualifying run. We came in and put on a new set of tires, then it started to rain. We just needed about five more minutes in the dry and we could have moved up the grid. It just hasn’t been our season, but hopefully the track will be dry tomorrow and we’ll have a good race.”

“We were kind of in the same boat as Alan,” said Bessette, who moved up from his 18th starting position set in yesterday’s provisional qualifying round. “We made some changes to the car after this morning’s practice that seemed to be working pretty well. Just as we were ready to go on new tires, the rains came and basically ended the session. I’m glad we were able to move up from yesterday and a lot of things can happen during the race. We’re both starting on the sixth row and if we work together, we should be able to move up.”

He qualified seventh in his series debut in San Jose, then the following week in Denver led both rounds of qualifying to capture his first career Atlantic pole position and establish himself as the youngest-ever Atlantic pole winner at just 17 years of age.

Last year at Road America, Bessette started sixth, and was battling for third when contact with another car relegated him to 13th place. Tomorrow’s 18-lap, final round of the 12-race Champ Car Atlantic season begins at 10:30 AM local, and will be televised via SPEED on Sunday, October 8 at 5:00 PM ET.

Sciuto and Bessette 16th and 18th in Wet Provisional Qualifying Round for Road America Atlantic Finale

Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin (September 22, 2006) – Polestar Racing Group drivers Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S Deans) and Antoine Bessette (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) braved wind and rain to set the 16th and 18th fastest times in today’s provisional round of qualifying for Sunday’s Gehl Champ Car Atlantic Championship Finale at Road America. The Polestar duo will have another chance to improve their positions in tomorrow’s final round of qualifying on Road America’s 4.048-mile permanent road course.

“It was tricky out there today,” said Sciuto, who qualified 10th and finished seventh here last year. “The track started out pretty wet, but began to dry as the session went on. We were able to make some big gains toward the end and probably could have improved more, but I got caught up in traffic on the last couple of laps. Hopefully the track will be dry tomorrow. But, if it’s wet again, we’ll change the car to get more grip in the back.”

“It was an okay qualifying session,” said Bessette, who drove the full Atlantic season last year with Polestar. “The car felt better this morning, but we learned some things in qualifying that will certainly help us out for tomorrow. A small improvement to the car makes a big difference in lap times at this track, and we have a good idea of what we need to do.”

Bessette, 24, captured two victories, four podiums and one pole last season while driving for Polestar. He finished outside of the top five in just three events, went on to finish fourth overall, placed third in the 2005 Atlantic Rookie-of-the-Year championship, and received the Gilles Villeneuve award by the Atlantic series.

Last year at Road America, Bessette started sixth, and was battling for third when contact with another car relegated him to 13th place.

Tomorrow’s Atlantic activities include a 55-minute practice session at 8:45 AM, followed by the final round of qualifying from 1:00 to 1:45 PM local. This weekend’s Gehl Champ Car Atlantic Championship Finale at Road America is scheduled to begin Sunday, September 24 at 10:30 AM local, and will be televised via SPEED on Sunday, October 8 at 5:00 PM ET.

Bessette Returns to Polestar for Road America Atlantic Finale
Sciuto Seeks Strong Finish in Second Road America Appearance

Chardon, Ohio (September 20, 2006) – Former Polestar Racing Group Atlantic race winner Antoine Bessette rejoins the team for this weekend’s Gehl Champ Car Atlantic Championship Finale at Road America. Bessette, of St. Bruno, Quebec, will pilot the #21 The RoomStore of Phoenix Polestar entry previously driven by Alex Barron and Ronnie Bremer earlier this season. Polestar regular Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S Deans) will make his second appearance at Elkhart Lake’s Road America after posting a seventh-place finish last year.

“I’m looking forward to getting back on the track with Polestar this weekend,” said Bessette, who raced in Portland and Montreal this year with two other teams. “We won a couple of races together last year and went on to finish fourth overall. I’m glad we were able to put this together for this weekend. Road America is the fastest track we race on and we’re all hoping for a good result.”

“We’re pretty excited about racing at Road America,” said Sciuto, who is ninth overall and the sixth-highest rookie coming into this weekend’s Atlantic season finale. “We had a strong car in Montreal last month and we seem to have found a much better set-up for higher speed courses. It’s been kind of an up and down season for us, but we’re giving it all we’ve got to have a good finish to the year at Road America.”

Bessette, 24, captured two victories, four podiums and one pole last season while driving for Polestar. He finished outside of the top five in just three events, went on to place third in the 2005 Atlantic Rookie-of-the-Year championship, and received the Gilles Villeneuve award by the Atlantic series.

Last year at Road America, Bessette started sixth and finished 13th. Polestar teammate Katherine Legge finished second after starting third to claim her fifth podium of 2005. Polestar co-owners Jim Griffith, Pam Griffith and Bruce Potter are all experienced Atlantic veterans, having been instrumental to the Atlantic championship-winning efforts of Barron (1997), Patrick Carpentier (1996) and Buddy Rice (2000).

For 2006, the Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda, now in it’s 33rd year, features an all-new made-in-the-USA Atlantic Swift 016.a chassis powered by a 2.3-liter Mazda-Cosworth engine. All competitors are vying for an unprecedented $2 million bonus designed for the series champion to use in securing a full-time Champ Car ride in 2007.

Sciuto Finishes 6th in Rain-Delayed Montreal Atlantic Race
Bremer finishes 14th in Atlantic series return

Montreal, Quebec, Canada (August 28, 2006) – In a race delayed a day due to inclement weather, Polestar Racing Group’s Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S. Deans) finished sixth today in Montreal to claim his seventh top-ten result of the 2006 Champ Car Atlantic season. Teammate Ronnie Bremer (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix), who made a one-race return to Atlantic competition this weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, finished 14th in an action-packed, but caution-free race.

“We had a good race and a pretty decent car,” said Sciuto, who started from the seventh position. “We were getting pulled on the straight-aways and I think that held us back a little. We had a full dry set-up on while some of the other guys seemed to be on more of an intermediate set-up. But, the team did a great job. Once again, Polestar gave me a solid car and we didn’t have any problems all weekend.”

“The race was good in the beginning when the track was still pretty wet,” said Bremer, who set the second-fastest time in this morning’s warm-up. “We moved up a few positions right away, but once the track started to dry, we couldn’t find a line where we could get any traction. It just got worse as the track continued to dry and we fell back a couple of spots. But, I enjoyed being back this weekend and want to thank Polestar for this opportunity.”

Bremer, 27, of Copenhagen, Denmark, competed in six events each with HVM, then Dale Coyne Racing in the 2005 Champ Car World Series. He captured the Polestar team’s first Atlantic victory in 2004 at Denver and posted ten top-ten finishes in his rookie Atlantic season to finish fifth overall.

Sciuto, 18, again leads the Polestar charge at the Atlantic season finale at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on September 22-24. Today’s race will be televised via SPEED on Sunday, September 3 at 1:00 PM ET.

Sciuto To Start 7th For Tomorrow’s Montreal Atlantic Race
Bremer qualifies 15th in Atlantic series return

Montreal, Quebec, Canada (August 26, 2006) – Polestar Racing Group’s Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S. Deans) will start tomorrow’s Champ Car Grand Prix of Montreal Atlantic race from the seventh position following today’s final round of qualifying at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Ronnie Bremer, in a one-race return to Atlantic competition this weekend in the #21 The RoomStore of Phoenix Polestar entry, qualified in the 15th spot for tomorrow’s 26-lap Atlantic feature.

“We definitely made some improvements with the car,” said Sciuto, who will make his fourth top-seven start of the season tomorrow. “It was very good in the first leg of qualifying, but we’ve been fighting some different handling characteristics with different sets of tires. The car seemed to push a lot more with the second set of tires and hurt us a little bit. The team did a great job and it looks like we’ll have a good car for the race.”

“Today didn’t go as well as we had hoped,” said Bremer, who competed in the Champ Car World Series last year. “We were off a bit on the set-up and I’m still getting used to the car. It was just a combination of things, but we’ll see how it goes tomorrow. It will be a bit tough starting from 15th, especially without any pit stops, but this is a good track to pass on and we should be able to move up some spots.”

Bremer, 27, of Copenhagen, Denmark, takes over the seat vacated by Champ Car and Indy Racing League veteran Alex Barron. Bremer competed in six events each with HVM, then Dale Coyne Racing in the 2005 Champ Car World Series. Although he missed one event (Toronto), he finished the season 12th overall and placed as the third highest rookie by virtue of seven top ten finishes.

He captured the Polestar team’s first Atlantic victory in 2004 at Denver and posted ten top-ten finishes in his rookie Atlantic season. He was honored with the BBS Rising Star award, in a 2004 season that featured five podiums and second in the Rookie-of-the-Year championship. Prior to Atlantic, Bremer competed in British Formula 3, British Formula Ford, and won numerous Danish karting championships.

Orange, California - native Sciuto, 18, was recognized as North America’s top shifter kart racer in 2004 before competing in three Atlantic races last year. He qualified seventh in his series debut in San Jose, then the following week in Denver led both rounds of qualifying to capture his first career Atlantic pole position and establish himself as the youngest-ever Atlantic pole winner at just 17 years of age. He is currently eighth overall and the sixth highest rookie in the 2006 Champ Car Atlantic season standings.

Polestar won last year’s Montreal Atlantic race with Canadian driver Antoine Bessette, who started from third on the grid. Tomorrow’s Atlantic race begins at 11:00 AM local, and will be televised via SPEED on Sunday, September 3 at 1:00 PM ET.

Bremer 10th, Sciuto 12th in Provisional Qualifying for Montreal Atlantic Race

Montreal, Quebec, Canada (August 25, 2006) – Former Champ Car World Series driver and Polestar Racing Group Atlantic race winner Ronnie Bremer (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) set the 10th fastest time in today’s provisional qualifying round for Sunday’s Champ Car Grand Prix of Montreal Atlantic race. Teammate and Polestar regular Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S Deans) was 12th fastest of the 24-car field in his first appearance at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.

“It was a good session, but we went the wrong way on a set-up change from this morning,” said Bremer, who was 11th fastest in the first practice session earlier today. “We probably would have been in the top five if we didn’t do that change, but we don’t have a lot of time to try things we need to try. The most important qualifying session is tomorrow anyway, so I’m very happy and we’ll see where we end up then.”

“Qualifying was better for us today,” said Sciuto, who was 17th in practice this morning, and improved his lap time by nearly two seconds in qualifying. “We were really slow down the straightaway in practice and in the beginning of this session, but we figured out that we sucked the air cleaner in. Once we got that fixed, it was so much better. We still have some work to do on the car, but I think we’ll be in good shape tomorrow.”

Bremer, 27, of Copenhagen, Denmark, takes over the seat vacated by Champ Car and Indy Racing League veteran Alex Barron for this weekend. Bremer competed in six events each with HVM, then Dale Coyne Racing in the 2005 Champ Car World Series. Although he missed one event (Toronto), he finished the season 12th overall and placed as the third highest rookie by virtue of seven top ten finishes.

Polestar won last year’s Montreal Atlantic race with Canadian driver Antoine Bessette, who started from third on the grid. Tomorrow’s Atlantic activities in Montreal begin another practice session at 9:25 AM, followed by the final round of qualifying at 1:10 PM local. This weekend’s Atlantic race is scheduled to begin Sunday, August 27 at 11:00 AM local, and will be televised via SPEED on Sunday, September 3 at 1:00 PM ET.

Bremer Set For Atlantic Return With Polestar in Montreal
Sciuto Poised For Strong Result in Montreal Debut
Polestar won last year’s race with Canadian Antoine Bessette

Chardon, Ohio (August 23, 2006) – Former Champ Car World Series driver and Polestar Racing Group Atlantic race winner Ronnie Bremer is set to return to his Atlantic roots in this weekend’s Champ Car Grand Prix of Montreal in Quebec, Canada, with the team that took him to fifth overall in the 2004 Atlantic Championship. Polestar regular Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S Deans) will make his Circuit Gilles Villeneuve debut after matching his season-best finish of fourth in Denver two weeks ago.

Bremer, of Copenhagen, Denmark, takes over the #12 The RoomStore of Phoenix seat vacated by Champ Car and Indy Racing League veteran Alex Barron following the Denver round.

“I’m looking forward to getting back on the track with Polestar this weekend,” said Bremer, who started sixth and finished 13th in 2004’s Montreal Atlantic race. “Montreal is a relatively high-speed circuit and very good for racing. Naturally, we’re hoping for a good result, but I also realize that there is much to learn about the new car. The series also seems to be very competitive this year, so I’m excited to be returning to Montreal with a top team.”

“I’ve been looking forward to this race all year,” said Sciuto, who is seeking his first podium of the year after posting fourth-place finishes in Denver and Portland. “I’ve heard the track is one of the best we race on and that the fans are extremely enthusiastic. It would be great to do well. We’re coming off of two races that we could run with the leaders at, so we’re hoping to carry that momentum into Montreal this weekend.”

Bremer, 27, competed in six events each with HVM, then Dale Coyne Racing in the 2005 Champ Car World Series. Although he missed one event (Toronto), he finished the season 12th overall and placed as the third highest rookie by virtue of seven top ten finishes.

Alex Barron Steps Down From Polestar Racing Group Atlantic Team
Ronnie Bremer to drive in Montreal

Chardon, Ohio (August 17, 2005) – Former Polestar Racing Group driver and Atlantic race winner Ronnie Bremer has been tapped to take over the seat vacated by Alex Barron for the next round of the 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda in Montreal, Canada. Bremer will pilot the #21 Polestar Atlantic entry with continued support from The RoomStore of Phoenix in Montreal, and possibly at the series finale at Road America in Wisconsin.

“We’re all sorry to see Alex go, but we understand his desire to explore some new opportunities for his future,” said Polestar co-owner Jim Griffith, who engineered Barron to the 1997 Atlantic championship title while competing for Lynx Racing. “We’re grateful for everything that he contributed to our team this year and certainly will continue to support him in anyway we can.

“When Alex expressed his intentions, Ronnie became a natural choice. He’s a proven race winner, knows the crew, and will transition easily into the team. We rate him very highly in terms of his technical expertise, commitment and racing ability.”

“This was really a hard decision, but I think it’s best for everyone involved,” said Barron, who competed in the Champ Car World Series and Indy Racing League from 1998 to 2005 with such teams as Cheever Racing, All American Racers and Team Penske. “I want to thank Polestar and Dan Selznick of The RoomStore for all of their support. The crew also did such a super job preparing the car for every session that we never had any mechanical failures. They’re a terrific group and I wish them the best for the rest of the season.”

“I’m excited to be back with Polestar,” said Bremer, who competed in last year’s Champ Car World Series with HVM and Dale Coyne Racing. “We shared some success together in 2004 and I’m looking forward to re-joining the team, as well as returning to what seems to be among the most competitive seasons in Atlantic history. We’re being realistic with our expectations, but at the same time, I hope to hit the ground running pretty hard.”

Bremer, 27, of Copenhagen, Denmark, competed in six events each with HVM, then Dale Coyne Racing in the 2005 Champ Car World Series. Although he missed one event (Toronto), he finished the season 12th overall and placed as the third highest rookie by virtue of seven top ten finishes.

He captured the Polestar team’s first Atlantic victory in 2004 at Denver and finished fifth overall in his rookie Atlantic season. He was honored with the BBS Rising Star award, in a 2004 season that featured five podium finishes and second in the Rookie-of-the-Year championship. Prior to Atlantic, Bremer competed in British Formula 3, British Formula Ford, and won numerous Danish karting championships.

Bremer will team with Polestar regular Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore fo Phoenix/W.S. Deans), who is currently eighth overall and sixth in rookie points after finishing fourth in Denver last weekend. The next round of the 2006 Champ Car Atlantic season will take place August 25-27 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Sciuto Matches Season-best Finish of Fourth in Denver
Polestar teammate Barron finishes 11th

Denver, Colorado (August 13, 2006) – Polestar Racing Group driver Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S. Deans) matched his season-best finishing position of fourth in today’s Champ Car Atlantic race around the Pepsi Center in Denver. Teammate Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) started and finished 11th in a time-certain 50-minute race that was shortened to 35 laps from the scheduled 39 due to four full-course caution periods.

“It’s not where we wanted to be, but it’s still a great finish for us,” said Sciuto, who started today’s race from third on the grid, and had the fastest time in this morning’s 15-minute warm-up session. “I dropped a spot on the start and kept working with the bars to get some more speed out of the car, but I had a little bit of a push on the back corners and wasn’t able to get on the back straight fast enough to pass anyone. But, it was a good showing for us and once again the guys did a great job all weekend.”

“The track seemed to lose some grip from this morning to this afternoon,” said Barron. “We made a few changes, but my car wasn’t as good when I was right on people in dirty air as it was this morning. The harder I tried the slower I went. I don’t know why, so obviously we need to try to figure that out. The guys were great this weekend, and I’m glad to see that Alan had a good finish.”

Graham Rahal won today’s Atlantic race and was followed by Raphael Matos and Simon Pagenaud. Sciuto also set the fourth-fastest time in today’s race. His previous season-best finish of fourth came earlier this year in Portland, Oregon.

Today’s tenth round of the 12-race 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda will be televised via SPEED on Saturday, August 19 at 3:00 PM ET. Round 11 continues with the Champ Car Grand Prix of Montreal at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on August 25-27 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Sciuto Claims His Best Starting Position So Far This Season at Denver
Atlantic driver Sciuto to start 3rd, Polestar teammate Barron grids 11th

Denver, Colorado (August 12, 2006) – Polestar Racing Group driver Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S. Deans) claimed his best starting position of this year’s Atlantic season thus far by virtue of setting the third-fastest time in today’s final round of qualifying for tomorrow’s Champ Car Atlantic race in Denver. Teammate Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) will start 11th in a field where the top 12 cars were faster today than yesterday’s provisional pole speed.

“It’s great to be back up near the front,” said Sciuto, who ran as high as second during today’s 30-minute qualifying session. “Third is great, but I was really trying get the pole. I had a pretty decent last lap going but got caught up in traffic. But, at least we’re in a good position for the start. We also have a solid street course package so I think we have a shot at being on the podium tomorrow.”

“We’re definitely on the right track,” said Barron, whose time today was more than 1.2 seconds faster than his 11th-place provisional qualifying speed set yesterday. “The car is much better than this morning, but we made a ride-height adjustment there at the end and got it a little bit too close. Otherwise, all of the adjustments we made worked out well and I think we’ll have a really good race car.”

Tomorrow’s 39-lap/50-minute Champ Car Grand Prix of Denver Atlantic race begins at 11:15 AM local and will be televised via SPEED on Saturday, August 19 at 3:00 PM ET. The race marks the tenth round of the 12-race 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda.

Last year in Denver, Sciuto, of Orange, California, led both rounds of qualifying to capture his first career Atlantic pole position and establish himself as the youngest-ever Atlantic pole winner at just 17 years of age. He went on to finish the race second. The Polestar team won 2004’s Denver Atlantic race with driver Ronnie Bremer.

Barron, of Menifee, Calif., is the only Atlantic series champion in the field this weekend. Since winning the 1997 Atlantic title, he competed in the Champ Car World Series and Indy Racing League from 1998 to 2005 with such teams as Cheever Racing, All American Racers and Team Penske. This is his first appearance at Denver’s 1.657-mile temporary street course.

Sciuto and Barron 8th and 11th in Provisional Qualifying for Denver Atlantic Race

Denver, Colorado (August 11, 2006) – Polestar Racing Group drivers Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S. Deans) and Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) set the 8th and 11th fastest times, respectively, in today’s provisional qualifying round for Sunday’s Champ Car Grand Prix of Denver Atlantic race. Earlier today, Sciuto, who qualified on pole here last year, set the fastest time of this morning’s 45-minute practice session.

“Unfortunately, I touched the wall at the beginning of the session and bent up the car a little bit,” said Sciuto, who brushed the inside Turn 3 wall with his left front wheel on the third lap of qualifying. “We tried to fix it the best we could, but it still wasn’t right, so we just tried to get a good lap and get back up there. We have another practice session tomorrow morning, so I’m sure we’ll get it sorted out before our final round of qualifying.”

“We did pretty good, and I’m glad we got the new tires on when we did,” said Barron, who set the eighth-fastest time in this morning’s practice session. “The car is pretty well balanced, we just need to make some adjustments to get it into the corner. Other than that, it was better than this morning. Some of the other guys went a lot quicker this afternoon. We just need to pick up some more time.”

Atlantic activities resume tomorrow with a 30-minute practice session at 8:45 AM local, before the final qualifying session from 1:15 – 1:45 PM. Denver’s tenth round of the 12-race 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda is scheduled for 11:15 AM Sunday and will be televised via SPEED on Saturday, August 19 at 3:00 PM ET.

Last year in Denver, Sciuto led both rounds of qualifying to capture his first career Atlantic pole position and establish himself as the youngest-ever Atlantic pole winner at just 17 years of age. The Polestar team won 2004’s Denver Atlantic race with driver Ronnie Bremer.

Sciuto Set For Winning Front in Grand Prix of Denver Atlantic Race
Reigning Denver Atlantic Pole Winner Seeks Front-Running Form This Weekend
Polestar team won 2004 Denver race with driver Ronnie Bremer

Chardon, Ohio (August 9, 2006) – After virtually being taken out of the Grand Prix of San Jose two weeks ago by another competitor, last year’s Denver Atlantic pole-winner Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S. Deans) will be seeking redemption in this weekend’s Champ Car Grand Prix of Denver Atlantic race. And nothing would suit Sciuto more than to recapture the pole this year and continue on to his first career Atlantic victory.

Polestar Racing Group teammate Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) suffered a similar fate in San Jose as he was hit from behind while running in the top ten and lost several positions while pitted to repair damages. If there’s anything the 1997 Atlantic series champion would like to turn this season around, it’s a victory this weekend as well.

“We definitely should have been on the podium in San Jose,” said Sciuto, who started that race sixth, until the car of James Hinchcliffe hit him from behind and launched over Sciuto’s head, taking off his rear wing and both side mirrors in the process. “We rolled off of the trailer fast, and our performance there should translate to Denver as well. There are some similarities between the two tracks and I think we have a good set-up for the tighter street courses. I also know this track pretty well, and led both qualifying sessions to take the overall pole, so I’m looking forward to a good race this weekend in Denver.”

“We’re both looking forward to continuing in Denver this weekend,” said Barron, who took the 1997 Atlantic title with five wins, four poles and six fastest-race laps. “San Jose turned out to be a tough weekend for the team, through no fault of our own. We seem to have a good, solid set-up for street courses and have been running well in all of the street races this season. This is our last street race this season and it would be great to have a top finish in Denver.”

This is his first appearance at Denver’s 1.65-mile temporary street course.

He went on to finish last year’s Denver race second, and is currently tenth overall and the seventh highest rookie in the 2006 Champ Car Atlantic season standings.

Polestar won 2004’s Denver race with driver Ronnie Bremer, who started from fifth. Last year, the team ran rookies Katherine Legge and Antoine Bessette. Bessette started sixth and finished fourth, and Legge was credited with finishing 17th after starting fifth. Polestar co-owners Jim Griffith, Pam Griffith and Bruce Potter are all experienced Atlantic veterans, having been instrumental to the Atlantic championship-winning efforts of Barron, Patrick Carpentier (1996) and Buddy Rice (2000).

This weekend’s 39-lap Champ Car Grand Prix of Denver Atlantic race around Pepsi Center is scheduled to begin Sunday, August 13 at 11:15 AM local, and will be televised via SPEED on Saturday, August 19 at 3:00 PM ET. Polestar Team Survives Rumble in San Jose Streets
Barron and Sciuto finish 14th and 15th
Sciuto sets third-fastest lap of the race

San Jose, California (July 30, 2006) – In what can be characterized as the most action-packed race of the 2006 Champ Car Atlantic season thus far, Polestar Racing Group teammates Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) and Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S. Deans) survived virtual mayhem and chaos to come home 14th and 15th, respectively, in today’s Canary Foundation Grand Prix of San Jose Presented by Taylor Woodrow Atlantic race. The race was slowed by five caution periods for 15 laps of the 50-minute, 45-lap feature.

While not a dull day for either Polestar driver, Sciuto’s race was nearly over on the second lap when the #3 Forsythe entry of James Hinchcliffe launched over the top of Sciuto’s machine - taking his rear wing and both mirrors off in the process. The Polestar crew repaired the damage, and Sciuto charged back through the 25-car field to set the third-fastest lap of the race. Barron survived a similar punting in the same hairpin corner on lap 24 as he was hit from behind and spun around, then had another competitor run over his front wing. Barron also pitted for repairs and resumed the race just two laps down.

“We were just running a smart race and staying out of trouble,” said Barron. “I got into the hairpin and two cars behind me totally missed their brake zones and pounded right into the back of me. It threw me into the tires and we had to come in and change the front wing. We were running in the top ten and the team has been working so hard this year, it would have been nice to have a better finish.”

“We had a great race car, it’s just a shame somebody had to basically take us out at the beginning of the race,” said Sciuto, who started sixth today. “Polestar gave me such a great car all weekend and we felt like we could have been on the podium for sure. But, we’ll re-group. Our next race is at Denver, where I won the pole last year, and we have a good street-course set-up. After today, we definitely have some unfinished business to take care of.”

Today’s ninth round of the 12-race 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda will be televised via SPEED on Saturday, August 5 at 11:00 AM ET. The series continues with the Champ Car Grand Prix of Denver around the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, on August 11-13.

Sciuto Grids Sixth For San Jose Atlantic Race
Polestar teammate Alex Barron 19th fastest

San Jose, California (July 29, 2006) – Polestar Racing Group driver Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S. Deans) equaled his best Champ Car Atlantic starting spot this season of sixth-place on the grid following today’s final round of qualifying for tomorrow’s Canary Foundation Grand Prix of San Jose Presented by Taylor Woodrow Atlantic race. At several points, Sciuto held the fastest time as the top six drivers swapped the lead throughout the 30-minute session. Teammate Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) ended the session 19th on the grid as today’s times were faster than those set in yesterday’s round of provisional qualifying.

“We had a real shootout going toward the end,” said Sciuto, who qualified seventh and finished fourth in his Atlantic series debut last year in San Jose. “It came down to whoever was going to get the clearest lap would probably end up getting the pole. Even on my fastest lap, I still had to pass three cars. But, it’s all good. We started out with the fairly same set-up we’ve been running all weekend and were able to improve a bit, but a few guys were able to improve a little more than we did. I think we’ll have a good car for the race and we’re starting pretty close to the front, so we should be in decent shape.”

“We made some changes for this session including a new engine,” said Barron, who was 15th fastest in this morning’s practice session. “The car ran fine, it was just difficult to get a good, clear lap. We’re starting pretty far back and will have to stay out of trouble tomorrow. There’s a couple of good spots for passing and we should be able to make our way toward the front.”

Tomorrow’s ninth round of the 12-race 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda begins at 10:30 AM local and will be televised via SPEED on Saturday, August 5 at 11:00 AM ET. The race is scheduled for 45 laps around San Jose’s 1.448-mile temporary street circuit.

Last year in San Jose, Polestar rookie driver Katherine Legge captured her third Atlantic victory of 2005, after holding off a strong challenge from Charles Zwolsman to finish just .220 of a second ahead.

Orange, California - native Sciuto, 18, was recognized as North America’s top shifter kart racer in 2004 before competing in three Atlantic races last year. In his second Atlantic start at Denver, he led both rounds of qualifying to capture his first career Atlantic pole position and establish himself as the youngest-ever Atlantic pole winner at just 17 years of age. He is currently eighth overall and the fifth highest rookie in the 2006 Champ Car Atlantic season standings. His previous sixth place starting spot this season came in June, at the Grand Prix of Portland.

Sciuto Breaks Through – 3rd On Provisional Grid for San Jose Atlantic Race
Polestar teammate Alex Barron 11th fastest

San Jose, California (July 28, 2006) – Polestar Racing Group driver Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S. Deans) captured his best Champ Car Atlantic qualifying result so far this season after setting the third-fastest time in today’s provisional qualifying round for Sunday’s Canary Foundation Grand Prix of San Jose Presented by Taylor Woodrow Atlantic race. His previous best qualifying effort this year was sixth place set in last month’s Grand Prix of Portland.

Teammate Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) ended the session 11th on the grid after setting the third-fastest time in this morning’s first practice session. Both drivers will have a chance to improve their times in tomorrow’s final round of qualifying.

“It feels good to finally be up near the front,” said Sciuto, who qualified seventh and finished fourth in his Atlantic series debut last year in San Jose. “The last lap I was on a flyer and someone brushed the wall right in front of me. I’m not sure if it would have been fast enough to beat Graham, but it might have bumped us up to second. We have a few small changes we’ll make for tomorrow but overall we’re real happy with everything. The team’s done a great job. We had a good idea of what the set-up would be for this track and rolled out of the box with a pretty good car. Now we’ll see if we can move up a couple of spots tomorrow.”

“The track was faster this afternoon and quite a bit different from this morning,” said Barron, who ran in the top ten for much of the 30-minute session. “But, we gained a lot of information and I’m sure the track will change pretty dramatically tomorrow morning and again for the final qualifying session. The track itself is pretty fun to drive. The biggest challenge is traffic and with the field as big as it is, you just have to try to get some clear laps whenever you can.”

Atlantic activities resume tomorrow with a 30-minute practice session at 9:45 AM local, before the final qualifying session from 3:45 – 4:15 PM. San Jose’s ninth round of the 12-race 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda is scheduled for 10:30 AM Sunday and will be televised via SPEED on Saturday, August 5 at 11:00 AM ET.

Sciuto Returns to Site of His Atlantic Series Debut in San Jose
Polestar team won last year’s San Jose Atlantic race with Katherine Legge

Chardon, Ohio (July 26, 2006) – After finishing fourth in his Champ Car Atlantic series debut last year in San Jose, you could say that Polestar Racing Group driver Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix) has some unfinished business to tend to on the challenging temporary street circuit. Ironically, Sciuto was beaten by the very team he drives for today, as Polestar captured the 2005 San Jose Atlantic race win with rookie driver Katherine Legge.

Polestar Racing Group teammate Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) has also been on a charge lately, cracking his first top five finish in Toronto a few weeks ago, and moving up seven spots in Edmonton last weekend. And if there’s anything the 1997 Atlantic series champion would like to add to his accomplishments, it’s a victory in this weekend’s Canary Foundation Grand Prix of San Jose Presented by Taylor Woodrow Atlantic race.

“San Jose is the first track this season that I have previously raced at,” said Sciuto, who last year also contested Atlantic rounds in Denver and at Wisconsin’s Road America. “I can’t say it’s been a big disadvantage not to have been at any of the tracks so far, but I think it certainly will help knowing the basic layout in San Jose. The cars are completely different this year so you really can’t compare driving styles. The field is also so competitive this year and it has been a greater challenge than I think anyone ever expected. But, as always, we’ll give it our best shot and it would be great to improve on where I finished last year.”

“We seem to be doing better on the street courses, so I think San Jose should be a good weekend for us,” said Barron, who took the 1997 Atlantic title with five wins, four poles and six fastest-race laps. “Edmonton was kind of a tough race for us, but we did well in Toronto and Long Beach, and were running strong in Houston, too. We really need to focus on getting a better starting position, particularly for a street course where it’s sometimes a bit harder to pass. The team did well here last year and that should also help give us some added confidence.”

Sciuto and Barron Finish 11th and 15th in Edmonton Atlantic Race
Barron sets 7th fastest time of the race

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (July 23, 2006) – Polestar Racing Group’s Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S. Deans) narrowly missed a top ten result by virtue of his 11th place finish in today’s West Edmonton Mall Grand Prix Presented by The Brick Atlantic race. Teammate Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) moved up seven spots to finish 15th and set the seventh fastest lap of the race in the process.

“We started off having a good race,” said Sciuto, who began 15th and narrowly escaped being caught up in several incidents during today’s 36-lap race. “I had to go off-line to avoid several guys going off or brushing the wall right in front of me, so my tires picked up the rubber build-up and it kind of killed me. I pretty much was stuck running with the guys around me and never had a chance to make a run for the lead pack. It’s unfortunate, but we still were able to move up and ended up coming home 11th.”

“I had a pretty fast car for the race,” said Barron, who was penalized on Lap 16 with a drive-through penalty for ‘avoidable contact’ with Justin Sofio and subsequently went a lap down. “We didn’t get the result we were looking for, but that’s part of the problem with starting so far back. The leaders check out and there’s just no way to catch up. It’s unfortunate with the penalty and everything, but we just haven’t had luck on our side this year.”

Today’s event will be televised via SPEED on Saturday, July 29 at 2:00 PM ET. Round nine of the 12-race Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda continues with the Canary Foundation Grand Prix of San Jose Presented by Taylor Woodrow on July 30, in San Jose, California.

Grid Set For Tomorrow’s Edmonton Atlantic Race
Polestar’s Sciuto and Barron to start from 15th and 22nd positions

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (July 22, 2006) – Polestar Racing Group drivers Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S. Deans) and Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) will start tomorrow’s West Edmonton Mall Grand Prix Presented by The Brick Atlantic race from the 15th and 22nd positions, respectively, following today’s final round of qualifying.

“We finally made some gains this afternoon,” said Sciuto, who was provisionally 23rd on the grid in yesterday’s first qualifying session. “But it seems that every time we make a little gain, people make bigger ones and we never seem to catch up. Time-wise we are getting closer to the front, and the car is definitely better than it was this morning. We’ll make some changes for tomorrow and, hopefully, have a good car for the race.”

“That was really all I could get out of the car today,” said Barron, who was provisionally 11th in yesterday’s qualifying round. “We wanted to try some relatively big changes just to feel out what the car would do. It’s certainly not where we want to be on the grid, but at least we have a better idea of what we need to do for tomorrow.”

Tomorrow’s eighth round of the 12-race 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda in Edmonton will start at 2:00 PM local and will be televised via SPEED on Saturday, July 29 at 2:00 PM ET.

Last year in Edmonton, Polestar won the Atlantic race with rookie driver Katherine Legge. She started third and charged to the front to lead the final 13 laps while holding off a strong challenge from Charles Zwolsman to finish just .220 of a second ahead. Canadian teammate Antoine Bessette started and finished fourth in his Edmonton debut last year.

Provisional Grid Set For Edmonton Atlantic Race
Polestar’s Barron and Sciuto sit 11th and 23rd

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (July 21, 2006) – Polestar Racing Group drivers Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) and Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix/W.S. Deans) provisionally qualified 11th and 23rd, respectively, for Sunday’s West Edmonton Mall Grand Prix Presented by The Brick Atlantic race. Today’s 30-minute qualifying session was shortened by ten minutes due to two separate accidents at JAGflo Speedway’s Turn 9.

“We made a big gain over this morning,” said Barron, who set the 16th-fastest time in this morning’s first practice session. “We made an adjustment to the ride-height that made a significant improvement. It’s too bad we didn’t get more time to run because the car was getting better throughout the session. But, we still have tomorrow and, hopefully, we’ll be able to move our way up the charts a bit.”

“We’re just really off the pace,” said Sciuto. “We’re having a problem carrying our speed and putting the power down out of the corners. The turns are all pretty much relatively fast, but we need to find some more grip. We’ll compare some things with Alex and, hopefully, we’ll figure it out for tomorrow.”

Atlantic activities at the West Edmonton Mall Grand Prix Presented by The Brick resume tomorrow with a 30-minute practice session at 9:45 AM local, followed by the final round of qualifying from 1:15 – 1:45 PM. Edmonton’s eighth round of the 12-race 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda is scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday and will be televised via SPEED on Saturday, July 29 at 2:00 PM ET.

Barron Heads Up Polestar’s Charge in Edmonton Atlantic Race
Polestar team won last year’s Edmonton Atlantic race with Katherine Legge

Chardon, Ohio (July 19, 2006) – After claiming his first top-five finish of this year’s Champ Car Atlantic season nearly two weeks ago in Toronto, 1997 Atlantic championship winner Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) is keen to keep moving up the charts in this weekend’s West Edmonton Mall Grand Prix Presented by The Brick Atlantic race.

Polestar Racing Group teammate Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix) was also on a charge in Toronto, moving up 14 positions and running in fifth place until he brushed the Turn One wall on Lap 19 and ended his day prematurely. Atlantic rookie Sciuto also is confident of another strong Canadian race performance, and hopes to capitalize on Polestar’s Edmonton expertise, as the team captured last year’s Edmonton Atlantic race win with driver Katherine Legge.

“We made a pretty big gain and found a new direction to focus on in Toronto,” said Barron, who took the 1997 Atlantic title with five wins, four poles and six fastest-race laps. “We’re feeling much better coming into Edmonton and continue to find out new things about these cars every time we’re on the track. There seems to be such a narrow window and if you’re off just a little bit, it’s the difference between a top five and a top twenty car. We’ll try some new things this weekend and, hopefully, get us back near the front.”

“We had a great race going in Toronto and feel good about continuing in Edmonton,” said Sciuto, who joins Barron on Polestar’s all-American driver line-up. “I’ve heard so much about Edmonton and how it’s such a fun town to race in. We’re also hoping that we’ll have a slight advantage, since Polestar won the Atlantic race here last year. I think we’ll be better off right out of the box and that should certainly help us throughout the weekend.”

Barron, of Menifee, Calif., is the only Atlantic series champion in the field this weekend and will be making his 20th Atlantic start. Since winning the 1997 Atlantic title, he competed in the Champ Car World Series and Indy Racing League from 1998 to 2005 with such teams as Cheever Racing, All American Racers and Team Penske. This is his first appearance at Edmonton’s JAGflo Speedway.

Orange, California - native Sciuto, 18, was recognized as North America’s top shifter kart racer in 2004 before competing in three Atlantic races last year. He finished fourth in his series debut on the challenging San Jose street course, then the following week in Denver led both rounds of qualifying to capture his first career Atlantic pole position and establish himself as the youngest-ever Atlantic pole winner at just 17 years of age. He is currently ninth overall and the sixth highest rookie in the 2006 Champ Car Atlantic season standings.

Polestar co-owners Jim Griffith, Pam Griffith and Bruce Potter are all experienced Atlantic veterans, having been instrumental to the Atlantic championship-winning efforts of Barron, Patrick Carpentier (1996) and Buddy Rice (2000).

All competitors are vying for an unprecedented $2 million bonus designed for the series champion to use in securing a full-time Champ Car ride in 2007.

Barron Stakes Top Five Finish, Sciuto Up to 5th Until Contact Forces Early Retirement in Toronto Atlantic Race

Toronto, Ontario, Canada (July 9, 2006) - Polestar Racing Group's Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) escaped first lap mayhem to finish fifth in today's 38-lap Toronto Atlantic race. Teammate Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix) had moved up an astounding 14 positions and was running fifth overall until contact with the Turn 1 wall ended his day prematurely on the 19th lap. A first turn incident at the start of the race and another accident in Turn 3 of the first lap caused today's only full-course yellow.

"We were pretty lucky to stay out of those wrecks on the first lap," said Barron, who moved up eight spots from his 13th starting position. "Our car was definitely more consistent than a lot of the other cars, but at the beginning of the race I couldn't run the lap times that I needed to stay with the leaders. With everybody trying to pass on the end of the back straight, everybody would bunch up and the leaders would just check out. Overall, I think we made a pretty big gain and found a new direction that we'll start to focus on. Again, we didn't have any mechanical failures all weekend and the team is working fantastic."

"I think we could have been on the podium today," said Sciuto, who also made it through the first three turns unscathed and moved up eight positions on the first lap. "We put a new engine in last night and it was running terrific. The car started to oversteer and I just barely brushed the Turn 1 wall. It wasn't a hard hit, but it was enough to knock something loose and end our day. At the start, we were completely parked in the first turn and were lucky that nobody hit us from behind. The guys did a great job changing the engine and getting everything together this weekend. We're all pretty excited about going to Edmonton."

Robbie Pecorari captured his first career Atlantic victory today, followed by Jonathan Bomarito and Ryan Lewis. Today's event will be televised via SPEED on Sunday, July 16, at 3:00 PM ET.

Round eight of the 12-race Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda continues with the Champ Car Grand Prix of Edmonton on July 23, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Accident Shortens Provisional Qualifying Session for Toronto Atlantic Race
Polestar’s Barron and Sciuto sit 15th and 19th

Toronto, Ontario, Canada (July 7, 2006) – Polestar Racing Group drivers Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) and Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix) provisionally qualified 15th and 19th, respectively, for Sunday’s Molson Grand Prix of Toronto Atlantic race. Today’s 30-minute qualifying session was shortened by six-and-a-half minutes due to an accident involving the cars of Duncan Ende and Leonardo Maia, however, the Polestar duo has another chance to improve their starting positions in tomorrow’s final qualifying round.

“We made some good adjustments to the car,” said Barron, who set the fifth-fastest time in this morning’s first practice session. “We just couldn’t show it because of the wreck on the front straight. I was one of the first cars behind and we were just lucky not to get involved. It was a blind corner and I guess some people behind me hit him and ended the session. We didn’t even get to run our new tires since we just put them on the car. It’s a shame the timing didn’t work out for us.”

“It was just bad timing for us,” said Sciuto, who is making his first appearance at Toronto this weekend. “It was our first lap after we put new tires on and he hit the wall right in front of me. I made it through, but we didn’t get to put a fast lap in. It’s a tight track and it’s hard to be fast unless you have a lot of grip. We changed the car a little bit, but the track changed a bunch since this morning. Hopefully, we’ll figure it out for tomorrow.”

Atlantic activities at the Molson Grand Prix of Toronto resume tomorrow with a 30-minute practice session at 9:40 AM local, followed by the final round of qualifying from 1:15 – 1:45 PM. Toronto’s seventh round of the 12-race 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda is scheduled for 10:00 AM Sunday morning and will be televised via SPEED on Sunday, July 16 at 3:00 PM ET.

Last year in Toronto, Polestar won the Atlantic race with rookie driver Antoine Bessette. He started third and charged to the front while teammate Katherine Legge started and finished sixth in her Toronto Atlantic debut. Including Bessette’s 2005 victory, Polestar has three podium finishes in Toronto. In 2004, Ronnie Bremer took home third place as did Jonathan Macri in 2003. Polestar co-owner Jim Griffith also engineered Barron to his 1997 sixth-place finish, as well as Buddy Rice to second-place in 2000’s Toronto Atlantic race.

Sciuto Leads Polestar Charge to First Canadian Round of 2006 Champ Car Atlantic Championship in Toronto
Polestar team is reigning victors from last year’s Toronto Atlantic race

Chardon, Ohio (July 5, 2006) – Seeking to continue his streak of finishing every race higher than where he started, Polestar Racing Group rookie Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix) is leading the team’s charge for this weekend’s Champ Car Atlantic race at the Molson Grand Prix of Toronto. Meanwhile, teammate Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) is confident of a strong showing on Toronto’s 1.755-mile temporary street course, having won the pole position in 1997’s Toronto Atlantic race.

“We seem to do better in the races as each weekend progresses,” said Sciuto, who has moved up an average of 5.8 positions in every race this season. “It’s great that we’re able to move up during the race, but we’ve been a bit off of the pace in qualifying. The other guys have been able to roll off the trailer and be quick right away, where it’s taken us a couple of sessions to get up to speed. I think Toronto will be better for us. Polestar won here last year and we’ve found a good combination that seems to work well on street courses.”

“We’ve had a bit of homework to do since Cleveland,” said Barron, who won the 1997 Atlantic Championship title. “We’re a little behind, but Toronto should be a good track for us. We have a good idea of what works on street courses so we should be able to be a little quicker right from the first session. Toronto is such a great town to race in. The fans are some of the best, it’s a fun place and I’m looking forward to having a good weekend.”

Barron, of Menifee, Calif., is the only Atlantic series champion in the field this weekend. He captured the 1997 Atlantic Championship title with five wins, four poles, six fastest race laps and the Rookie-of-the-Year crown. Since then, he competed in the Champ Car World Series and Indy Racing League from 1998 to 2005 with such teams as Cheever Racing, All American Racers and Team Penske. Barron finished 28th in 1998’s Toronto Champ Car race in his rookie Champ Car season with Dan Gurney’s All American Racers team. He also has moved up and average of 3.4 positions in every race he has finished this year.

He is currently sixth overall and the fourth highest rookie in the 2006 Champ Car Atlantic season standings.

Polestar co-owners Jim Griffith, Pam Griffith and Bruce Potter are all experienced Atlantic veterans, having been instrumental to the Atlantic championship-winning efforts of Barron, Patrick Carpentier (1996) and Rice (2000).

Sciuto Climbs to Top Ten Finish, Barron Up to 12th in Second Cleveland Atlantic Race
Sciuto finishes 9th and improves the most positions in the race

Cleveland, Ohio (June 25, 2006) – Polestar Racing Group’s Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing, The RoomStore of Phoenix) moved up 15 spots from his 24th starting position to finish ninth overall in today’s Gehl Atlantic Championship of Cleveland at Burke Lakefront Airport. Teammate Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) started 17th and climbed up to finish 11th in today’s 32-lap race, slowed by only one full-course caution.

“The car was good, but unfortunately I didn’t get as many people at the start as I wanted to,” said Sciuto, who began today’s race from last on the 24-car grid due to an accident in yesterday’s qualifying session. “I got hung out on the outside trying to get by people, but it still ended up being a good race. We definitely got the car dialed in a bit better and I’m happy that we brought it home in the top ten. The crew did a terrific job all weekend and, especially, repairing the damage in time for yesterday’s race. We have a much needed weekend off next week, then we’ll be ready to go for Toronto.”

“We started the race a little bit loose at the beginning, but compared to yesterday we’ve improved the car,” said Barron, who is 13th overall in the series championship. “We didn’t have any mechanical failures all weekend and once again the mechanics did a great job. Now, we just need to keep digging and find some more speed.”

Graham Rahal captured his second Atlantic victory of the weekend and third of the season today, followed by Richard Phillippe and Steve Ott. Sciuto earned one bonus point for improving the most positions today and is fourth in rookie points, and sixth overall in this year’s championship.

Today’s event will be televised via SPEED on Sunday, July 9, at 5:00 PM ET. Round seven of the 12-race Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda continues with the Molson Grand Prix of Toronto on July 9, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Barron, of Menifee, California, took the 1997 Atlantic series by storm with five wins, four poles and the Rookie-of-the-Year title en route to the winning that year’s Championship. He then competed in the Champ Car World Series and Indy Racing League from 1998 to 2005 with such teams as Cheever Racing, All American Racers and Team Penske.

Polestar Duo Takes 14th and 15th in First Race of Cleveland Atlantic Doubleheader

Cleveland, Ohio (June 24, 2006) – Polestar Racing Group’s Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) and Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix) finished 14th and 15th, respectively, in today’s first of two Gehl Atlantic Championship of Cleveland races. The 32-lap race ended under caution while safety crews attempted to clear the wrecked car of Justin Sofio.

“There was a lot of stuff going on in the first turn, but we stayed out of trouble,” said Barron, who started 18th and worked his way up to 11th. “I was able to go fairly quick straight away. Some guys made some mistakes and I got around them and was pushing pretty hard, but the grip went off on the car about half way through the race and some guys got back by me. It’s a good thing it finished under yellow because the left front tire went flat and we would have had to have pitted. We rode around on a flat tire under the yellow just to finish the race. Now, we’ve got to figure out something for tomorrow since we’re still searching for a good set-up. We still have some homework to do tonight.”

“We’re still struggling with the car quite a bit,” said Sciuto, who moved up one spot to finish 15th from his 16th starting position. “We missed a lot of valuable time this morning after the car bottomed out and we went off at Turn 4. We tried some big changes for the race, but unfortunately, they didn’t work out as well as we had hoped. At least now we have a better idea of what direction we need to go for tomorrow and it should be a much better day.”

Tomorrow’s event, the sixth round of the 12-race Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda, is scheduled for 12:00 Noon ET.

Graham Rahal captured his second Atlantic victory of the season today, followed by Simon Pagenaud and Andreas Wirth. Today’s event will be televised via SPEED on Sunday, July 9, at 4:00 PM ET.

Grid Set For Tomorrow’s Cleveland Atlantic Race

Cleveland, Ohio (June 23, 2006) – Polestar Racing Group drivers Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix) and Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) will start tomorrow’s first of two Champ Car Atlantic races this weekend from the 16th and 18th positions, respectively. Today’s 30-minute qualifying session at Cleveland’s Burke Lakefront Airport circuit was hampered by three red-flag periods and ultimately ended early due to an immobilized safety vehicle on the course.

Atlantic activities at the Gehl Atlantic Championship of Cleveland resume tomorrow with a 30-minute qualifying session for Sunday’s second race at 9:30 AM local, followed by Race #1 at 3:30 PM. Sunday’s 32-lap race is scheduled for 12:00 Noon. For the first time since 1998, both races will feature standing starts. They will be televised on SPEED on Sunday, July 9, at 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM ET.

Sciuto Leads Polestar Into Hometown Cleveland Atlantic Race

Chardon, Ohio (June 21, 2006) – After nearly capturing his first Champ Car Atlantic podium finish of the 2006 season last weekend in Portland, Oregon, Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix) has his sights set on moving the Chardon, Ohio-based Polestar Racing Group team up a couple of spots in this weekend’s Gehl Atlantic Championship of Cleveland. Meanwhile, teammate Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) is no stranger to the Burke Lakefront Airport circuit, having tasted the champagne by virtue of finishing third in 1997’s Cleveland Atlantic race to take his fourth of nine podiums en route to winning the series championship title that year.

“We’ve made a ton of progress in the last couple of weeks,” said Sciuto, who jumped to fourth place overall in the series championship and third in the Rookie-of-the-Year standings after finishing fourth in Portland. “We have a much better understanding of the car now, and we’ve done a lot of testing under conditions that are very similar to the Cleveland track. Although this is my first time here, the team has had some great runs on this track and I’m looking forward to having a good showing at Polestar’s home race. We’ll also be doing our first standing starts of the season this weekend, which is going to be awesome!”

“Cleveland is a great track to race on,” said Barron, who worked his way up to the podium after starting sixth in 1997’s race. “It’s so wide and there’s plenty of room for passing, as long as you can get a good run on the guy in front of you. I think we’ll have a good weekend in Cleveland. Our goal is to get closer to the front in qualifying and to put ourselves in a better position to run up front for the race. With two races this weekend, a lot can happen. It will mark a turning point for a lot of people, and I think it will turn out to be a good one for us.”

The Polestar team is no stranger to Cleveland’s 2.106-mile temporary airport circuit. Last year, they captured a second-place finish in the weekend’s second race with driver Antoine Bessette, as well as a second-place finish in 2003 with Jonathan Macri. Polestar co-owner Jim Griffith also engineered Barron to his 1997 third-place finish, as well as Buddy Rice to victory in 2000’s Cleveland Atlantic race.

Barron, of Menifee, Calif., is the only Atlantic series champion in the field this weekend. He captured the 1997 Atlantic Championship title with five wins, four poles, six fastest race laps and the Rookie-of-the-Year crown. Alan Sciuto Takes Best Finish of the Season, Alex Barron 16th in Portland

Portland, Oregon - Polestar Racing Group's Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing, The RoomStore of Phoenix) narrowly missed capturing his first podium of the season by finishing fourth in today's Champ Car Atlantic race at Portland International Raceway. Teammate Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) started and finished in the 16th position in today's 40-lap race, slowed by only one full-course caution.

"It was a good race and the best finish we've had all year," said Sciuto, who jumped up to third from his sixth starting position in the first two corners. "I was hit from behind at the start and barely saved it, then saw a hole and made it through. The car was strong, but the yellow flag kind of hurt me. I was passed on the re-start by some people who weren't as quick, then it was hard to get back around. When I was right behind someone, the air was taken away from the car and I couldn't keep it on the track. But, it was a good race, and it gives us some forward momentum going into the team's home race in Cleveland."

"We just started too far back," said Barron. "We got the rear of the car to work pretty well, but I had a lot of understeer in the middle of the corner and couldn't get a good run on people to get around them. Of course, we wish we would have finished a bit higher up, but at least we have a better feel for the car and I think we'll have a good set-up for next weekend's race in Cleveland."

James Hinchcliffe captured his first Atlantic victory of the season today, followed by Ryan Lewis and Andreas Wirth. Today's event will be televised via SPEED on Saturday, June 24, at 4:00 PM ET. Rounds five and six of the 12-race Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda continue with a double-header at the Champ Car Grand Prix of Cleveland on June 24-25, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Barron, of Menifee, California, took the 1997 Atlantic series by storm with five wins, four poles and the Rookie-of-the-Year title en route to the winning that year's Championship. Polestar Prepares for Portland
June 16, 2006

Portland, Oregon - Coming into this weekend's Trinity Carpet 100k, Round four of the 12-race 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda, there's a quiet optimism in the Polestar Racing Group camp as drivers Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix) and Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) have a new-found level of comfort and familiarity with their cars.

A recent two-day test at Florida's Sebring International Raceway resulted in significant strides as the team was able to try a number of different set-up combinations, many geared specifically for the characteristics of Portland International Raceway's 1.964-mile permanent road course.

"Every time we get out on the track, we learn so much more about the cars," said Sciuto, who most recently finished seventh after starting ninth in the series' last race in Monterrey, Mexico. "Our biggest hang-up thus far has been not being able to qualify as far up as we should be able to, for whatever reason. We've been fast in all of the races, we just need to make sure that we're closer to the front at the start. Now, we're feeling really good about what we've learned in the last couple of weeks and I think it will reflect in this weekend's race in Portland."

"Everything has gone very well in recent testing and I am very comfortable with the car," said Barron, who won the 1997 Atlantic Championship title with Polestar co-owner Jim Griffith as his engineer. "Most importantly, we learned a big thing that should help us out for the rest of the season. Everything that we concentrated on for Portland also went very well, so we're hoping that we'll be able to hit the track right away with a solid qualifying set-up. The Atlantic field is so incredibly close this year that it's critical to start closer to the front."

Barron set the third-fastest lap during the previous race in Monterrey and finished eighth after starting 11th. Sciuto has never finished outside of the top ten in all of his six Atlantic starts and makes his first appearance at Portland International Raceway this weekend.

Last year's Portland race featured an Atlantic double-header where the Chardon, Ohio-based Polestar team fielded rookies Katherine Legge and Antoine Bessette. Legge, who now competes in the Champ Car World Series with PKV Racing, started the first race seventh and finished ninth.
Legge captured her second of five podiums in 2005 by climbing up to third after starting tenth in Portland's second race. Teammate Bessette started from fifth and finished fifth in both Portland races.

Barron finished 14th in 1998's Portland Champ Car race in his rookie Champ Car season with Dan Gurney's All American Racers team.

Sciuto, Barron Finish 7th, 8th in Monterrey Atlantic Race
Barron sets third-fastest lap of the race

Monterrey, Mexico (May 21, 2006) – Polestar Racing Group’s Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing, The RoomStore of Phoenix) and Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in today’s third round of the Champ Car Atlantic series at Fundidora Park. Barron also set the third-fastest lap with a time of 1:23.446 on lap 13 of the caution-free 32-lap event.

“The car was really good, we just started too far back,” said Barron, who moved up to eighth after starting 11th. “It’s hard to get off a corner and get a run on somebody here. I was really fast early on, but the cars out front just checked-out at the start so Alan and I spent the rest of the race trying to catch up. The car had really good balance and the crew did such a great job all weekend, we just need to start qualifying better.”

“It was a good race,” said Sciuto, who started ninth. “I got up to about seventh at the start, then had a little bit of a collision, got blocked and fell back to tenth. Unfortunately, that’s what happens when you start in the middle of the pack. The car was pretty consistent and I was trying to catch up to Wirth and keep the gap to Alex. Overall, it was a good weekend. We made a lot of progress with the car and now need to focus on getting further up on the starting grid.”

Graham Rahal captured his first career Atlantic victory today, followed by Simon Pagenaud and David Martinez. Today’s event will be televised via SPEED Channel on Sunday, May 28 at 6:00 PM ET. Round four of the 12-race Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda continues with the Champ Car Grand Prix of Portland on Sunday, June 18, in Portland, Oregon.

Alan Sciuto Lands Top-Ten Starting Spot; Alex Barron to Grid 11th as Polestar Racing Group Readies for Atlantic Race in Monterrey

Monterrey, Mexico (May 20, 2006) – Following today’s final qualifying session for tomorrow’s Champ Car Atlantic race at Fundidora Park, Polestar Racing Group’s Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix) claimed his first top-ten starting spot of the season with the ninth-fastest time, while teammate Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) will start 11th.

“This session was definitely better,” said Sciuto, of Orange, California. “We’re making improvements, but there’s still a little something somewhere that we’re missing. But, I’m happy with ninth, it’s our best qualifying spot so far this year and, hopefully, we’ll be able to work up. Tomorrow’s race will be a long one, and our car seems to get better over the longer runs, so I think we’ll be in good shape.”

“The car was even better than it was this morning,” said Barron, who set the third-fastest time in practice earlier today. “Unfortunately, everyone else also got better and we fell back a few positions. Now, we just need to go back, figure out why and change what we need to for tomorrow. The car hasn’t missed a beat all weekend, and the crew has been doing such an outstanding job, especially in the heat.”

Atlantic activities at the Tecate Grand Prix of Monterrey Presented by Roshfrans resume tomorrow with a 15-minute warm-up at 8:00 AM local. The 32-lap (67.328-mile) race, round 3 of the 12-race Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda, is scheduled for 10:30 AM Sunday morning, and will be televised via SPEED Channel on Sunday, May 28 at 6:00 PM ET.

Barron, of Menifee, California, is the only Atlantic champion competing in the field this weekend. After taking the 1997 Atlantic series by storm with five wins, four poles and the Rookie-of-the-Year title, he then competed in the Champ Car World Series and Indy Racing League from 1998 to 2005 with such teams as Cheever Racing, All American Racers and Team Penske.

Sciuto, 18, was recognized as North America’s top shifter kart racer in 2004 before competing in three Atlantic races last year. He finished fourth in his series debut on the challenging San Jose street course then, the following week in Denver, led both rounds of qualifying to capture his first career Atlantic pole position and establish himself as the youngest-ever Atlantic pole winner at just 17 years of age.

Polestar team owners Jim and Pam Griffith and Bruce Potter are all experienced Atlantic veterans, having been instrumental to the Atlantic championship-winning efforts of Barron, Patrick Carpentier (1996) and Buddy Rice (2000).

Polestar Racing Group Wraps up First Day in Monterrey Sun

Monterrey, Mexico (May 19, 2006) – With track temperatures approaching 150 degrees, Polestar Racing Group drivers Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) and Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix) wrapped up their first day in the Mexican sun by qualifying 13th and 14th, respectively, in today’s provisional qualifying round on Fundidora Park’s 2.104-mile permanent road course.

“We were the first ones out and pretty much just swept the track this morning,” said Barron, who was ninth fastest in today’s first round of practice in the 24-car field. “The track got faster and faster as the session went on and the changes we made from Houston to here I think were good. We underestimated how much the track was going to change for this afternoon, and thought we’d be further up than we are. But, we’ll go back and see where we’re at with the set-up and make some changes for tomorrow.”

“The track was pretty slick this morning, but it’s a great layout and a lot of fun to drive,” said Sciuto, of Orange, California, and the youngest-ever Atlantic pole winner. “We had a good first session and knew that we would pick up a lot more grip for qualifying after the Champ Cars went out. We were a little bit off on the car for qualifying, but I think we had a good session. There was a lot of traffic and I never really had a perfect lap, but I think we’ve got it figured out. We’ll come back stronger tomorrow.”

Atlantic activities at the Tecate Grand Prix of Monterrey Presented by Roshfrans resume tomorrow with a 45-minute practice session at 9:30 AM local, followed by the final round of qualifying from 1:15 – 1:45 PM. The 32-lap (67.328-mile) race, round 3 of the 12-race Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda, is scheduled for 10:30 AM Sunday morning. The race will be televised via SPEED Channel on Sunday, May 28 at 6:00 PM ET.

Polestar Racing Group’s Alan Sciuto and Alex Barron Ready for Blistering Pace in Third Round of 2006 Atlantic Championship in Monterrey, Mexico

Monterrey, Mexico (May 17, 2006) – After two rounds of the 12-race 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda, Polestar Racing Group drivers Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix) and Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) are ready to put the heat on the competition in this weekend’s Tecate Grand Prix of Monterrey Presented by Roshfrans Atlantic race.

Fresh off of a blistering second round at Reliant Park in Houston, where the team consistently found speed and grip in the Texas heat with each consecutive on-track session, Polestar Racing Group is confident of a solid set-up for Monterrey’s Fundidora Park 2.104-mile temporary street circuit.

“Houston proved to be a good learning week for us,” said Sciuto, who moved up to finish sixth after starting 16th in Houston. “The car gets better every time we’re on the track, and it just kept getting better as the race went on. I think we even would have had a shot at winning if we hadn’t started so far back, but we should be in a lot better shape for this weekend. We have a better understanding of how the car works and a solid set-up going into Mexico. The track is also a lot more open than Houston and should lend itself to more passing opportunities.”

“The main thing for us is that we now know how to make the car work,” said Barron, whose Houston race ended early after contact with another car on the second of the race’s four re-starts. “Houston was so rough that we had to find a way to make the car work over the bumps. Monterrey should be a bit smoother, so we can focus on a strong qualifying set-up. The Atlantic field is so deep and competitive this year that it’s more important than ever to start from a good position. I think we now have the car to do it and this weekend could mark a good turning point for us for the rest of the season.”

Last year in Monterrey, the Chardon, Ohio-based Polestar team fielded rookies Katherine Legge and Antoine Bessette. Legge, who now competes in the Champ Car World Series with PKV Racing, started the race eighth and finished fifth, while teammate Bessette ended up fourth after his fourth-place starting spot. Under the engineering and guidance of Polestar co-owners Jim Griffith, Pam Griffith and Bruce Potter, the team has claimed two podium finishes at Monterrey – the first in 2003 in the team’s debut race with driver Jonathan Macri (2nd place), the second with Rocky Moran, Jr. in 2004 (2nd place).

Barron, of Menifee, Calif., is the only Atlantic series champion in the field this weekend. He captured the 1997 Atlantic Championship title with five wins, four poles and the Rookie-of-the-Year crown with the same engineer he has today – Jim Griffith. Since then, he competed in the Champ Car World Series and Indy Racing League from 1998 to 2005 with such teams as Cheever Racing, All American Racers and Team Penske.

Orange, California - native Sciuto, 18, was recognized as North America’s top shifter kart racer in 2004 before competing in three Atlantic races last year. He finished fourth in his series debut on the challenging San Jose street course then, the following week in Denver, led both rounds of qualifying to capture his first career Atlantic pole position and establish himself as the youngest-ever Atlantic pole winner at just 17 years of age.

Both Griffiths and Potter are all experienced Atlantic veterans, having been instrumental to the Atlantic championship-winning efforts of Barron, Patrick Carpentier (1996) and Buddy Rice (2000).

This weekend’s race is scheduled to begin on Sunday, May 21 at 10:30 AM local and will be televised via SPEED Channel on Saturday, May 27 at 12:00 PM ET. The race will also air to U.S. service men and women in over 130 countries around the world through the American Forces Radio & Television Service. Further information is available on the team’s official web site at www.polestarracinggroup.com.

Polestar Racing Group Flies in Houston
Sciuto moves up ten spots to 6th; Barron’s day ends early after running 9th

Houston, Texas (May 13, 2006) – After starting 16th, Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The RoomStore of Phoenix) charged through the field to finish sixth, while Polestar Racing Group teammate Alex Barron (#21 The RoomStore of Phoenix) ran in the ninth position until contact during the second re-start ended his day early on the 23rd lap.

“I think we had a car we could have won with today,” said Sciuto, who steadily worked his way through the 28-car field in the 36-lap/50-minute race. “The track was pretty tough to pass on and starting as far back as we did definitely hurt us. People kept blowing through the first turn on the re-starts, then I would have to work past them again. But, we were able to move forward and the team gave me a terrific car to race with today. The guys have been great, especially after being here late last night to put in a new engine. We’ve learned so much about the car this week and I think we’ll have a good shot at being closer to the front next weekend in Monterrey.”

“We had a solid race car today, with good balance and good grip,” said Barron, who had the seventh-fastest lap time before his race ended early. “We’re out of the race because of what was going on during the re-starts. People were doing burn-outs then slamming on the brakes right before the green. It was a chain reaction and it caught me out. Unfortunately for us it didn’t work out today. But, at least we came away a lot of information on the car and that will certainly help us out for the coming races.”

Andreas Wirth won today’s Fast Trac 100, part of the Grand Prix of Houston at Reliant Park, followed by Simon Pagenaud and Jonathan Bomarito. The race will be televised via SPEED Channel on Saturday, May 20 at 1:00 PM ET. Round three of the 12-race Yokohama Presents The Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered By Mazda continues with the Tecate/Telmex Monterrey Grand Prix next weekend, May 19-21, in Monterrey, Mexico.

Barron, of Menifee, Calif., captured the 1997 Atlantic Championship title with five wins, four poles and the Rookie-of-the-Year crown with the same engineer he has today – Polestar co-owner Jim Griffith. Since then, he competed in the Champ Car World Series and Indy Racing League from 1998 to 2005 with such teams as Cheever Racing, All American Racers and Team Penske.

Orange, California, native Sciuto, 18, was recognized as North America’s top shifter kart racer in 2004 before competing in three Atlantic races last year. He finished fourth in his series debut on the challenging San Jose street course then, the following week in Denver, led both rounds of qualifying to capture his first career Atlantic pole position and establish himself as the youngest-ever Atlantic pole winner at just 17 years of age. With a total of 30 points after two rounds, Sciuto is currently sixth overall in the season championship and fifth for the Rookie-of-the-Year title.

Polestar team owners Jim and Pam Griffith and Bruce Potter are all experienced Atlantic veterans, having been instrumental to the Atlantic championship-winning efforts of Barron, Patrick Carpentier (1996) and Buddy Rice (2000).

Polestar Racing Group Wraps up First Day on Bumpy Houston Track

Houston, Texas (May 11, 2006) – Characterized by drivers Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The Room Store of Phoenix) and Alex Barron (#21 The Room Store of Phoenix) as one of the bumpiest tracks they’ve ever been on, the Polestar Racing Group Champ Car Atlantic team ended the day 12th and 13th fastest, respectively, following today’s first round of qualifying on Reliant Park’s 1.615-mile temporary street circuit.

“This place is so bumpy, it’s like a motocross track, “said Sciuto, of Orange, Calif., and the youngest-ever Atlantic pole winner. “Once we got on the track, we quickly found that we needed to make some adjustments because it was so rough. In the first session, we raised the car quite a bit and it was still bottoming, but it was much better for qualifying. We made a change midway through qualifying that didn’t seem to work and slowed us down at the end. But, hopefully, we’ll be able to pick it up tomorrow.”

“The track is quite bumpy, more so than we thought driving around it yesterday with the golf cart,” said Barron, who is the only Atlantic series champion in the field. “We changed some big things after practice and that certainly helped us out for qualifying. The difference between the two sessions was night and day and now we just need to do some fine-tuning to be ready for tomorrow.”

Atlantic activities resume Friday with 45-minute practice session at 3:00 PM local, followed by the second round of qualifying from 6:30 – 7:00 PM. The 40-lap (64.60-mile) Fast Trac 100 race, round 2 of the 12-race Yokohama Presents The Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered By Mazda series, is scheduled for 5:15 PM Saturday evening. The race will be televised via SPEED Channel on Saturday, May 20 at 1:00 PM ET.

Barron, of Menifee, Calif., last competed on the previous Houston circuit around the George R. Brown Convention Center in 2000, when he started 23rd and finished 12th while racing in the Champ Car World Series for Dale Coyne Racing. He also competed in the Champ Car World Series and Indy Racing League from 1998 to 2005 with such teams as Cheever Racing, All American Racers and Team Penske. He took the 1997 Atlantic series by storm with five wins, four poles and the Rookie-of-the-Year title en route to the Atlantic crown.

Polestar Racing Group’s Alex Barron and Alan Sciuto Ready for Houston as Atlantic Competition Heats Up for Fast Trac 100

Houston, Texas (May 10, 2006) – If the 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Series Powered by Mazda season promises anything, it’s that every race is going to be a hotly contested battle for track position, not to mention the $2 million dollar incentive that goes to the championship winner. This Saturday’s Fast Trac 100, the second round of the 12-race Atlantic series, takes the fight to the streets around Reliant Park, with an all-new track and a host of teams and drivers hungry to win.

While the Reliant 1.615-mile circuit presents an unknown challenge for everyone, the Chardon, Ohio-based Polestar Racing Group team is no stranger to Atlantic race and championship victories. Under the guidance of co-owners Jim Griffith, Pam Griffith and Bruce Potter, the team accounted for nearly half of last year’s Atlantic race wins by capturing five victories out of 12 events with series rookies Katherine Legge and Antoine Bessette.

For 2006, Polestar brings out its street-fighting arsenal in the form of 1997 Atlantic series champion Barron (#21 The Room Store of Arizona Swift) and pole-winning rookie Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The Room Store of Arizona Swift). Barron himself staked five wins, four poles and the Rookie-of-the-Year title on his way to claim the ’97 Atlantic crown with the same engineer he has today – Jim Griffith.

“To say we’re hungry to run up front would be an understatement,” said Barron, who finished eighth in last month’s 2006 season opener at Long Beach. “After Long Beach we were a bit puzzled. We were a little behind to begin with, but we just wrapped up two very productive days of testing and made a big jump in the right direction. We have a much better understanding of what the car wants. We can make it turn, we can make grip, and we have a very good set-up for a street course, which bodes well for this weekend.”

Sciuto, who also cracked the top ten in Long Beach by finishing tenth in his first race with the Polestar team, is seeking a return to his front-running form that put him on pole in only his second of three Atlantic starts last year.

“We’re certainly on the right track,” said Sciuto, 18, of Orange, Calif. “We just came off of a very good test and made some significant gains. We’ve been focusing on learning more about the car and were able to try a ton of things. We’re pretty upbeat about everything and anxious to see how things will go this weekend.”

The Atlantic activities at Reliant Park officially kick-off on Thursday, May 11, with a 55-minute practice session at 2:30 pm local. The first qualifying session will be held that night from 7:30 to 8:00 pm. The second round of qualifying takes place from 6:30 to 7:00 Friday night, with the 40-lap (60.60 miles), 50-minute Fast Trac 100 race scheduled to begin at 5:15 pm Saturday.

The Atlantic series last competed in Houston in 2001, when the series ran for four consecutive years (1998 – 2001) on a temporary downtown street circuit around the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Barron, of Menifee, Calif., last competed on that Houston circuit in 2000, when he started 23rd and finished 12th while racing in the Champ Car World Series for Dale Coyne Racing. He also competed in the Champ Car World Series and Indy Racing League from 1998 to 2005 with such teams as Cheever Racing, All American Racers and Team Penske.

Sciuto was recognized as North America’s top shifter kart racer in 2004 before competing in three Atlantic races last year. He finished fourth in his series debut on the challenging San Jose street course then, the following week in Denver, led both rounds of qualifying to capture his first career Atlantic pole position and establish himself as the youngest-ever Atlantic pole winner at just 17 years of age.

Polestar team owners Jim and Pam Griffith and Potter are all experienced Atlantic veterans, having been instrumental to the Atlantic championship-winning efforts of Barron, Patrick Carpentier (1996) and Buddy Rice (2000).

SPEED will provide tape-delayed television coverage of the Grand Prix of Houston Atlantic race on Sunday, May 20 at 1:00 pm ET. The race will also air to U.S. service men and women in over 130 countries around the world through the American Forces Radio & Television Service. Further information is available on the team’s official web site at www.polestarracinggroup.com.

Polestar Continues with Blistering Test Pace at MSR

Angleton, Texas (May 8, 2006) – Continuing with a blistering pace in the Texas heat at Houston’s MSR track for the second and final consecutive day of Atlantic open testing, Polestar Racing Group focused on a street course set-up in preparation for this weekend’s Fast Trac 100, part of the Grand Prix of Houston at Reliant Park.

“Today was very good, and I think we wore at least one of our drivers out,” said Jim Griffith, co-owner of the Chardon, Ohio-based Polestar Racing Group. “For the time we had, we were able to try a number of different combinations. We had one driver testing aero, and the other focusing on suspension. Between the two, we gathered a ton of information. Despite the heat and humidity, both drivers gave 100 percent all day, and the team responded with quick changes that will certainly help to point us in the right direction for this weekend.”

“I think we found a good set-up for a street course,” said Alex Barron, who drives the #21 The Room Store Swift. “Naturally, we’re a little disappointed that we finished the day as far down as we did, but we’ve made a big jump in the right direction. And, again, this track doesn’t really reflect the type of course we’ll be at this weekend. The team is doing such a terrific job. We ran hard all day with no mechanical failures and they were very quick to respond to changes on the pad. It’s great being with Jim (Griffith) again, and everything today went really smooth.”

“Today was definitely a hard day of testing,” said Alan Sciuto, driver of the #12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The Room Store Swift. “I think at one point I spent nearly two hours in the car. We tried a ton of things, and between Alex and I, I think we made some significant gains. We’re all looking forward to how things will go this weekend, and we’re pretty upbeat about everything we’ve learned these past two days.”

The team now moves on to Reliant Park, site of the second round of the 12-race 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda season. This weekend’s May 11-13 race is part of the Grand Prix of Houston at the newly constructed 1.615-mile temporary street circuit around the Reliant Park complex.

Polestar on track for Houston race after first Atlantic series test day at MSR

Angleton, Texas (May 7, 2006) – With two cars and two drivers working together on separate strategies, Polestar Racing Group made significant strides in today’s official Atlantic series test day – the first of two at Houston’s MSR circuit – in preparation for this weekend’s Fast Trac 100, part of the Grand Prix of Houston at Reliant Park.

“Our test today went very well,” said Alex Barron, who drives the #21 The Room Store Swift. “We were able to figure some things out since Long Beach and we’re certainly heading in the right direction. MSR is a long, high-speed track, which doesn’t necessarily reflect a street course like we’ll be racing at this weekend, but testing is all relative. The important thing is that we’ve learned a lot, we have a good idea of what we need to change for tomorrow, and how to apply it for the race on Saturday.”

Teammate Alan Sciuto, who drives the #12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The Room Store Swift shared a similar sentiment. “It was a very beneficial day. We were able to take advantage of having two cars and although we were at different ends all day, we’ll combine what we’ve learned and apply it to both of us. Alex is so knowledgeable and great. He’s an awesome guy to be working with.”

Testing resumes tomorrow on MSR’s 2.38-mile, 17-turn circuit before the teams set-up at Reliant Park, site of the second round of the 12-race 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda season. This weekend’s May 11-13 race is part of the Grand Prix of Houston at the newly constructed 1.615-mile temporary street circuit around the Reliant Park complex.

Beachwood 8th Grader Gets Inside Look at Chardon’s Polestar Racing Group Champ Car Atlantic Team

Chardon, Ohio (May 4, 2006) – With an eye on a future in engineering, Beachwood Middle School eighth grader Natali Vannoy got an up-close and personal look at the inner workings of a professional auto racing team.

As part of a career project for her school, Natali enjoyed the opportunity to interact with members of Chardon’s Polestar Racing Group Champ Car Atlantic team, tour the shop, and sit in one of the team’s race cars. She also visited the High Tech Performance Trailers factory, where she saw firsthand the design and construction of professional race transporters.

“It was really a pleasure having Natali with us for the day,” said Jim Griffith, co-owner of the Polestar team. “She came at a great time and got to see some pretty cool things ranging from how we use computers to gather racing information, to seeing the guys install an engine in one of the cars. She seemed pretty impressed with the high level of technology and support that goes into the cars, running the team and preparing for each race.”

Natali’s visit coincided with the team preparing for the Fast Trac 100, the second round of the 12-race 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda season, part of the Grand Prix of Houston taking place May 11-13 at the newly constructed 1.615-mile temporary street circuit at Reliant Park in Texas.

Polestar’s drivers for the two-car team include Alan Sciuto, 18, who drives the #12 Sealy/PKV Racing/The Room Store Swift. Hailing from Orange, California, Sciuto was recognized as North America’s top shifter kart racer in 2004 before competing in three Atlantic races last year. He finished fourth in his series debut on the challenging San Jose street course then, the following week in Denver, led both rounds of qualifying to capture his first career Atlantic pole position and establish himself as the youngest-ever Atlantic pole winner at just 17 years of age.

Sciuto is joined on the Polestar team by 1997 Atlantic series champion Alex Barron, who took that year’s crown with five wins and four poles in his rookie Atlantic season. Barron, of Menifee, California, drives the #21 The Room Store Swift and previously competed in the Champ Car World Series and Indy Racing League from 1998 to 2005 for such teams as Cheever Racing, Mo Nunn Racing, All American Racers and Team Penske.

Polestar most recently captured five wins in 2005 with Atlantic rookies Katherine Legge and Antoine Bessette. Polestar team owners Jim and Pam Griffith and Bruce Potter are all experienced Atlantic veterans, having been instrumental to the Atlantic championship-winning efforts of Barron, Patrick Carpentier (1996) and Buddy Rice (2000).

“It’s a great opportunity to personally meet some of the fans who will be coming to see us race next weekend,” said Sciuto, 18, and the youngest-ever pole winner in the 33-year history of the Atlantic Championship. “We’ll also give them an inside look at the technology and excitement that’s part of the Champ Car Atlantic series. We’re delighted to join with Sealy and Finger’s Furniture for what is just the beginning of a fun, action-packed week in Houston.”

Following the Finger’s Furniture appearance, Sciuto and the Polestar team will prepare for the Fast Trac 100, the second round of the 12-race 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda season, part of the Grand Prix of Houston taking place May 11-13 at the newly constructed 1.615-mile temporary street circuit at Reliant Park.

Sciuto, of Orange, California, has emerged as one of the top rising stars of American open-wheel racing. After being recognized as North America’s top shifter kart racer in 2004, he quickly established himself as a leading force in Atlantic competition by finishing fourth in his first series race on the challenging San Jose street course last year. The following week in Denver, he led both rounds of qualifying to capture his first career Atlantic pole position and establish himself as the youngest-ever Atlantic pole winner at just 17 years of age.

Sciuto is joined on the Polestar team by 1997 Atlantic series champion Alex Barron, who competed in the Champ Car World Series as well as the Indy Racing League after taking the 1997 series by storm with five wins and four poles in his rookie Atlantic season.

Opening Round of Champ Car Atlantic Championship Goes to Andreas Wirth on the Streets of Long Beach
April 09, 2006

LONG BEACH, California - At the end of the 2005 Atlantic season, Andreas Wirth (#37 INDECK/Wirth Solar) was on the sidelines trying to heal his back. On Sunday, in the first of 12 rounds in the Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda, Wirth proved that he was back, fully healed and ready to compete for the 2006 series title.

After establishing a new course record on Saturday, seizing his second career Atlantic pole position, Wirth led all 32 laps to win the Imperial Capital Bank Atlantic race at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. The victory gives Wirth the early lead in what's expected to be a hotly-contested championship pursuit in '06 and completes a dramatic comeback for the 21-year-old German racer.

Last season, Wirth scored his first win on the streets of Denver and vaulted into second place in the Atlantic championship standings. After qualifying second for the penultimate round of series competition at Road America, Wirth suffered fractured vertebrae in a morning warm-up crash. He was forced to watch the final two rounds as he wound up finishing sixth in the title chase.

Joining the new Forsythe Championship Racing four-man super team this season, Wirth distinguished himself as the early favorite in the race the for the series crown and the $2 million champion's Champ Car bonus as he fought off repeated challenges throughout Sunday's race to capture the checkered flag.

Early on, it was Wirth battling back fast Frenchman Simon Pagenaud (#15 Team Australia/Location U/Cons. Gen. Vienne) for the point and then the Forsythe sophomore held off Jonathan Bomarito (#23 Miracle Sealants/Dynacor). Over the final eight laps of the race, it was Brazilian Raphael Matos (#6 Pro Works) who fought for the lead, but again Wirth shut the door. He completed his near perfect day by beating Matos to the finish line by .840 of a second.

Matos, the Sierra Sierra Enterprises driver who lined up third at the start, recovered from a tough start that saw him surrender his position to Bomarito early on. He continued to give chase and was ready pounce when Bomarito retired with a mechanical problem with 12 laps to go. With a solid podium, Matos enjoyed a strong opening weekend in his series debut.

Toronto's James Hinchcliffe (#3 Emexis/INDECK) also had a productive weekend. Wirth's teammate at Forsythe Championship Racing, "Hinch" completed his maiden Atlantic voyage at Long Beach by claiming third place.

Pagenaud led the opening round of qualifying at Long Beach on Friday, and he also completed his first Atlantic weekend in fine form. He took the checkered flag in fourth place. Fellow rookie Graham Rahal (#18 Gehl Company) of Mi-Jack Conquest Racing recovered from an early race encounter with the wall to produce a fifth-place result in his series debut.

Brazil's Danilo Dirani (#1 Canary Fund/Funcional Card/M TEL/Perkons) improved from an 11th-place starting position to finish sixth for Condor Motorsports. Gelles Racing's Robbie Pecorari (#28 Western Union/USA Today/Gelles Racing) raced from 13th at the start to a seventh-place result, while 1997 Atlantic champion Alex Barron (#21 The Room Store) returned to series action with Polestar Racing Group with an eighth-place finish.

Leonardo Maia (#7 INDECK) made it three Forsythe Racing drivers in the top 10 as he claimed ninth and young Californian Alan Sciuto (#12 Sealy/PKV Racing) was 10th in the running order in his debut for the Polestar team.

Incidents on the tight and challenging Long Beach street circuit claimed several expected series contenders. Richard Philippe (#33 INDECK), Tim Bridgman (#2 Epson), Stephen Simpson (#14 Western Union/Diamon-Fusion/Gelles Racing), Charles Hall (#16 Accent Card/OmniSource/Dixien) and Ryan Spencer-Smith (#25 (DUC Housing Partners) all were forced to retire early due to contact.

After a strong debut with the new-generation Atlantic car featuring the Swift 016.a chassis powered by a 300-horsepower Mazda-Cosworth engine while riding on Yokohama tires, the Atlantics competitors have a few weeks to refine their machines before the next series action. Round 2 of the Champ Car Atlantic Championship - the Fast Trac 100 at the Grand Prix of Houston - will take place May 11-13 at Houston's Reliant Park.

ATLANTIC RACE NOTES:

· Mike Forest (#32 Miracle Sealants/The Spirit of Edmonton) of PR1 Motorsports did not compete in today's race. Forest was injured during a qualifying accident on Friday. According to Champ Car Director of Medical Affairs Dr. Chris Pinderski, Forest suffered mild compression fractures of the 11th and 12th thoracic vertebrae during the incident that occurred when his car made contact with a tire wall. Forest, who qualified 26th for this weekend's event based on his Friday qualifying time, will travel to Indianapolis this week for further evaluation by Champ Car Chief Orthopedic Consultant Dr. Terry Trammell. Forest's status for Round in Houston on will be determined after the evaluation.

· Matos recorded a new track Long Beach record race lap when he blistered a time of 1:16.058 on Lap 31. Matos earned a bonus championship point for recording the fastest lap.

Barron's #21 The Room Store entry won the first Sherwin-Williams Atlantic Design Award of the season. Representatives of Sherwin-Williams, the Official Automotive Finish of Atlantics, along with select Long Beach race fans, judged Barron's Polestar Racing Group car to have the best finish design this weekend. The team was awarded $4,000 for the honor.

Quotes from the top three drivers from today's race follow:

Andreas Wirth (#37 INDECK/Wirth Solar) of Forsythe Championship Racing: "I was very mad at myself on Friday when I threw it in the wall, but I knew I had the car to win. It was a great race today. The start was good. Simon (Pagenaud) was actually close on the right side, but I was on the inside so I could brake a little bit later. The car was great at the beginning. It went away actually at the end. Rafael had a faster car, but I was still able to get the speed through. I hope it will continue like this through the season."

Rafael Matos (#6 Pro Works) of Sierra Sierra Enterprises: "Unfortunately, I didn't have a really good start. Jonathan (Bomarito) went on the outside and I kind of got stuck on the inside. I think I had a better race car than him and I was faster. It's really tough to pass on the track. I think he had a little bit less downforce than me, so I was unable to make the pass on the straightaway. I passed Simon and then I was behind Andreas. I just tried to concentrate. We made some points for the fastest lap and we feel strong for the second race and to compete for the championship."

James Hinchcliffe (#3 Emexis/INDECK) of Forsythe Championship Racing: "Today was just phenomenal. The team has been working flat out to prepare the car. To come off this weekend with a podium is a great start to the season and I hope things go forward from here."

SEALY SHIFTS INTO HIGH GEAR WITH SPONSORSHIP OF
CHAMP RACE CAR DRIVER ALAN SCIUTO
17 Year-old Sciuto to Drive Sealy Champ Car in 7 Races

ARCHDALE, NC, March 24, 2006– Sealy, the leading bedding manufacturer, announced today it is aligning itself with one of America’s most promising young racers, by sponsoring Atlantic Championship driver Alan Sciuto. Seventeen year-old Sciuto, a rising star of open-wheel racing, will drive the Sealy Posturepedic Atlantic car in seven races in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico in 2006.

Sciuto’s first race in the Sealy Posturepedic Atlantic Car will be in April 9 in Long Beach, California. Other races include Houston, Texas; Portland, Oregon; Monterrey, Mexico; Cleveland, Ohio; and Toronto, Ontario. Sciuto will be driving the newly-designed Swift 016.a chassis powered by a 300 horsepower Cosworth engine on Yokohama racing tires, which was unveiled in February.

The Sealy Posturepedic Atlantic car was unveiled when Sciuto sped the car around the California Speedway test track in Ontario, California.

“Alan has emerged as one of the most talented young drivers in the Champ Car Atlantic racing circuit and Sealy is proud to sponsor him in the Atlantic Series this summer. The growth and success of Champ Car racing has the ability to generate tremendous excitement for our brand,” said Philip Dobbs, senior vice president of marketing at Sealy.

Sciuto was named “Young Driver of the Year” by Shifter Kart Magazine in 2002. In 2004 he was ranked nationally as the number one Shifter Kart driver in North America and the first to be named both Junior and Pro Driver of the Year with 15 consecutive National podiums. In 2005 he raced two Skip Barber races and two Pro Zetec events and finished with a first and second in both venues. Sciuto also competed in three Champ Car Atlantic events in 2005, and in Denver, Colorado he became the youngest driver ever to qualify on an Atlantic pole position. He lives with his parents in Orange, California.

Sciuto said, “I’m very proud of the sponsorship from Sealy and excited about the opportunity this year to compete and do my best. I am also thrilled with the relationship with PKV Racing and Polestar Racing Group and look forward to an exciting season.”

Polestar Racing Group Team was founded by Jim and Pam Griffith and Bruce Potter in 2001. PKV Racing is a Champ Car team that is owned by Dan Petit, Kevin Kalkhoven, and Champ Car driver Jimmy Vasser.

Champ Car, a shortened form of "Championship Car," has been the name for a class of open-wheel racing used in American Championship Car Racing. Former Atlantic Series Champion Alex Barron to Compete for Polestar Racing Group in 2006

March 20, 2006 - INDIANAPOLIS - One of the most personable and distinguished champions in the recent history of the Atlantic Championship is returning to his racing roots this season. American racer Alex Barron, the 1997 Atlantic series champion, is coming home to the series where he first established a name for himself, signing on to drive for Polestar Racing Group in the 2006 Yokohama Presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda.

Barron, 35, has raced in both the Champ Car World Series and the IRL since capturing the '97 Atlantic crown. The homecoming for the Menifee, California native represents a reunion with Jim Griffith, the engineer who helped guide Barron to his Atlantic title with Lynx Racing. Griffith now owns the Polestar team along with his wife Pam and engineer Bruce Potter. Barron not only becomes an instant contender for the '06 Atlantic championship with the experienced Polestar squad, he will also help serve as a guiding force for rookie and new 17-year-old teammate Alan Sciuto, one of America's brightest rising racing stars.

"I'm excited to be returning to Atlantic competition," said Barron. "With a new crop of very talented teams and drivers, the Atlantic Championship should be one of the most competitive series in all of racing this season. It's going to be a lot fun working with the Griffiths again and everyone at Polestar. I've gotten to know Alan a little bit and I think he's a tremendous talent. With the team we've got assembled here, I think we're going to have an awesome 2006 season."

Barron will pilot the #21 Mazda-Cosworth/Swift 016.a/Yokohama for the fourth-year Polestar team. He'll compete with sponsorship from The Room Store, Arizona's largest volume furniture store, which also sponsors veteran Dan Selznick in the Atlantic Championship. Additional sponsorship may be added to Barron's entry in the coming weeks.

"We're happy to be sponsoring Alex in this year's championship," said Selznick, who's worked closely with Barron over the last few years to refine his own driving style. "He's going to be great for the series because of his immense talent and his efforts over the last few years have really helped me become a much better racer."

"Alex is going to be a great addition to the team," said Jim Griffith, whose squad earned a series-high five victories in 2005 with Atlantic rookies Katherine Legge and Antoine Bessette. "I have a lot of respect for him both as a driver and a person and he'll certainly raise our game as we go after the Atlantic championship this season."

In '97, Barron took the Atlantic series by storm. He earned five wins and four pole positions with the Lynx team to capture both the series title and Rookie-of-the-Year honors. The following season he graduated to Champ Cars joining Dan Gurney's All-American Racers squad. After being named RACER magazine's Most Promising Road Racer of the Year in '98, Barron competed for a number of Champ Car teams over the next several seasons. He made 34 Champ Car starts from 1998-2001 for teams including All-American Racers, Marlboro Team Penske, Dale Coyne Racing and Arciero-Blair Racing. He joined the IRL in 2001 and earned two series victories in 59 starts through last season.

Barron will join Sciuto and the Polestar team at this week's first test session with the new-generation Champ Car Atlantic car, March 21-22 at the California Speedway road course. He'll officially make his Atlantic re-introduction at the opening race of the season, April 7-9 at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

The Champ Car Atlantic Championship continues to be the premier open-wheel development series in North America. Beginning its 33rd season in 2006, the championship is noted for its long history of graduating its stars into Champ Car competition and has helped produce past Champ Car champions Paul Tracy, Jimmy Vasser, Bobby Rahal, Danny Sullivan, Michael Andretti and Jacques Villeneuve. 2005 Champ Car competitors Alex Tagliani, Andrew Ranger and Ronnie Bremer are also established Atlantic graduates along with 2004 Champ Car Rookie of the Year and 2003 Atlantic champ A.J. Allmendinger. Competing in newly-designed Swift 016.a chassis powered by a 2.3-liter Mazda-Cosworth engine riding on Yokohama ADVAN Racing Slicks, 2006 competitors will fight for the 12-race championship and the unique $2 million Champ Car series champion's bonus. Rising American Star Alan Sciuto Joins Polestar Racing Group for 2006 Atlantic Season

February 15, 2006 - LOS ANGELES, California - In 2005 Alan Sciuto made some noise in his brief Atlantic debut. This season the promising young American racer plans to turn up the volume full blast in the Champ Car Atlantic Championship Presented by Yokohama.

Sciuto, the skilled 17-year-old driver who became the youngest-ever polewinner in the 32-year history of Atlantics last season, will compete in 2006 for Polestar Racing Group, one of the top veteran teams in the Atlantic series. After strong performances last season in Atlantics, the Star Mazda series and the U.S. Formula Ford 2000 championship, Sciuto emerged as one of the top rising stars of American open-wheel racing.

"Alan certainly demonstrated a lot of promise and a lot of poise last season," said Jim Griffith, co-owner of the Polestar team. "He clearly has the talent to compete and win at this level. Our goal is to help continue Alan's maturation as a driver and we're looking forward to contending for the series championship this season."

After emerging as one of the nation's top karting stars, Sciuto was recognized as North America's top shifter kart racer in 2004. He entered both the Skip Barber National Championship and the Star Mazda series last season but he really began to shine in his first taste of Atlantic competition. The native of Orange, California earned an impressive fourth-place finish in his first series race on the challenging San Jose street course for PR1 Motorsports. The following week he upped his game, leading both rounds of qualifying at Denver to win the pole before eventually finishing second in the race. Competing for the first time at Road America, Sciuto secured a seventh-place finish to close out his three-race introduction to Atlantics. Proving that his results were anything but beginner's luck, he also shined when he joined the FF2000 series for the final two races of the '05 season. Sciuto captured the checkered flag in his very first series race and he finished second in just his second event.

The young Sciuto should be a good fit on the veteran Polestar squad that produced a total of five Atlantic victories last season between rookies Katherine Legge and Antoine Bessette. The success should come no surprise, however, as team owners Jim and Pam Griffith and Bruce Potter are all experienced Atlantic veterans. The Griffiths have also served as the driving force behind such standout racers as Patrick Carpentier, Alex Barron and Buddy Rice when each driver won the Atlantic series title.

Continuing on a relationship that was established last season when Legge took the series by storm with three victories, PKV Racing of the Champ Car World Series will continue to serve as a sponsor for Polestar Racing Group.

"PKV Racing is pleased to continue its sponsorship of one of the Polestar Racing Group entries during the 2006 Champ Car Atlantic Championship Presented by Yokohama season," said PKV and Champ Car co-owner Kevin Kalkhoven. "Polestar Racing Group had an outstanding year in 2005 and we were obviously very impressed with the results of the PKV Racing/Polestar Racing Group car piloted by Katherine Legge. PKV Racing is proud to support Jim and Pam Griffith and Bruce Potter and we are excited to be the sponsor of Alan Sciuto. Alan is a talented young American driver who showed in just three races of Atlantic competition last year that he has the skill to be competitive in this series."

The Polestar team hopes to announce a driver for its second entry in the 2006 Atlantic championship within the next few weeks.

The Champ Car Atlantic Championship continues to be the premier open-wheel development series in North America.
